2020 Men's League Season

Bulletin board regarding 2020 Silver Creek Men’s Wednesday Golf League.

We must apologize for the tardiness for this notice. As with everything that is happening globally, we had to have a wait and see approach. Hence, we did get the approval to initiate a Men’s golf league at Silver Creek Golf Course (SCGC) here in Garden River First Nation. However, there are many stipulations.

What we MUST do:

  1. There will be absolutely NO Cash money exchanged.
  2. June 7th: rather than having a team scramble fun night we will be hosting a LEAGUE MEMBERS ONLY 2-man best ball tournament. This will allow to ask questions to Terry and Dana, provide an opportunity for payment and to check with health protocols. Please have your 2-man team signed up and paid with Dana (etransfer ONLY) by June 4th at 6pm. First tee-time will be at noon. Further details will come related to cost and tee times of said tournament. These details will be posted on the League Facebook page.
  3. June 10: FULL $300 team entry fee DEADLINE, paid to either Terry or Dana via etransfer or check ONLY.
  4. $25/player green fees per round (unless a player is a paid member at SCGC, then this fee is waived for said player), but no sleeve of balls. This fee can be directly paid to the SCGC via credit card or etransfer (etransfer details at the SCGC is still being worked out).
  5. Due to these restrictions, there will be no specials related to skill shots, fun fund, luck draw, etc. When restrictions are lessened, we will look to re-incorporate these in the future.
  6. FOOD and BEVERAGES. There will still be refreshments available, but NO refreshment cart will be available on the course throughout the rounds. Food and beverages must be ordered prior to heading out to the course. There will be line ups, therefore the earlier arrival the better. Please do not hassle the SCGC staff as these are health protocols. Beverages can be brought out with you for your round. Food can be either delivered to you on the course or ready for pick up for take out to take home with you after the round.
  7. Due to COVID-19 social distancing (6feet/2meters) there will be a concern regarding carts. Therefore, due to expectant team numbers, we must split the league into 2 evenings. Monday and Wednesday evenings with the continuation of the shot gun start at 515pm. However, this league split is all dependent upon team registration numbers. (please see point #3 above).
  8. League split will be Monday division and Wednesday division, this allotment will be determined via lucky draw on June 11 once we receive entry fees. However, if your team is willing to play Mondays, please let Terry or Dana know this fact on registration and we will place you in the Monday evening division.
  9. Due to this unique situation, league will begin Monday, June 15th and Wednesday June 17 for said divisions.
  10. All logistics for your round of play, will be processed outside in the pavilion. Please designate 1 team member to complete all your team’s responsibilities for that specific round. This includes picking up score cards prior to round, filling out the “Team Results Table” at the conclusion of the round and any concerns for the round.
  11. Due to health concerns, golf carts will be limited to the staging area only. Please drop your clubs at the “Drop-Off” zone upon arrival as carts will no longer be allowed out in the general area parking lot.
  12. Due to health concerns, please wear face masks in the parking lot if available and at your discretion throughout your round. This is for the safety and that of all others.
  13. We are currently working on a system for prior payment for future rounds for your green fees. Please stay tuned for further details.
  14. As with all the COVID-19 precautions, we ask that each league member is aware of the health guidelines of 6feet/2meters space distance between others. Please do not or extremely limit touching any services (IE/ golf hole pins remain in holes, etc.). These guidelines will be universal throughout all golf courses and Algoma Health Unit will be monitoring these regulations. Please have all league members be aware of these regulations. Cannot stress this enough as the Algoma Health Unit can shut us down right away. If you are unaware of these guidelines, please do yourself a favour and look them up. We do hope to have a physical copy of said guidelines at the course during league play.
  15. Due to health concerns and limited number of carts. It is all on your discretion, but with the Algoma Health Unit’s inspections, we recommend sharing a cart only if you arrive together in the same vehicle, live in the same house, work together or just do not care. Otherwise each team member will be allotted their own cart. Thus, the league split into 2 days.
  16. Due to health concerns and regulations, each league member must sign a liability waiver with SCGC prior to participating within the league. This waiver will be kept on file for this current golf season.
  17. Due to health concerns and the 6feet/2meter social distance the mid-season dinner will be canceled; however, we will have a special year end banquet dinner.
  18. All other league requirements will still stand (IE team registration list, completing all documents, respect and fair play, etc.)
  19. Regular league season will be concluded in September all depending on team registration numbers and a unique playoff format. This will be a work in progress and further details to come.
  20. Any long weekend and/or holidays that fall on a Monday and/or Wednesday we will still play our golf league round for that day. We will designate time at the conclusion of the season prior to the playoffs to play a rainout date, if required. However, if this week is not required, we will utilize it for the beginning of the playoffs.
  21. IF and this is a big if, if the league gets canceled for any reason: within 5 weeks your team fee will be refunded 50%; within 7 weeks refund of 25%, no refund beyond 7 weeks.
  22. Registration details:
    1. Please email or text message Terry or Dana your entire team list and team name.
    2. In this correspondence please specify method of league fee payment
    3. If you cannot etransfer, a check will be sufficient however, please no cash.
